a Beefheart tribute night is an excellent idea!
i've recently seen "A Squid Eating Dough In A Polyethelene Bag Is Fast And Bulbous" in action at a local club in Sydney and they were excellent. imagine the Beefheart sound pulled through the perspective of an acoustic guitar weird folk singer (with trumpet, sax, and drums). too bad the songs on their myspace are NOTHING like their wonderful live sound, though i spoke to the singer at their gig and he said they're working on a recording now. so look out for that, it should be good!
